There is no single ideal weight
The most used reference is the BMI range of 18.5 to 24.9. The Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi formulas were created to calculate medicine doses and give a single number, so we show both.
Example
A man 5 ft 7 in tall: healthy range of about 118 to 159 lb. The Devine formula gives about 146 lb.

Frequently asked questions
What if I am very muscular?
BMI does not separate muscle from fat. Athletes can be above the range and healthy. See the body fat calculator.
