How it works
Earnings = views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. RPM (revenue per mille) is what you earn for every 1,000 page views or video views.
Example
A blog with 100,000 page views a month and an RPM of $8 earns about $800 a month, or $9,600 a year. To reach $2,000 a month at the same RPM, it would need 250,000 views.
What changes the RPM
- Country of the audience: visitors from the US, UK and Canada pay much more than visitors from most other countries.
- Topic: finance, insurance and software pay more than entertainment.
- Season: RPM usually rises in November and December and drops in January.
Use the RPM from your own AdSense or YouTube Studio report for a realistic estimate.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RPM and CPM?
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 impressions. RPM is what you, the publisher, actually earn per 1,000 views, after the platform’s share.
How much does YouTube keep?
For long videos, creators in the Partner Program receive 55% of ad revenue. The RPM in YouTube Studio already shows your share.
Is this income guaranteed?
No. It is an estimate: traffic, RPM and policies change.
