How it works
Your final grade is a weighted average: current grade × (100% − final weight) + final exam score × final weight. The calculator solves that equation for the final exam score.
Example
You have an 82% and the final is worth 40%. To finish with a 90%, you need (90 − 82 × 0.6) ÷ 0.4 = 102%, so an A is out of reach with the final alone. To finish with an 85%, you need 89.5%.
Frequently asked questions
What if my class uses points instead of percentages?
Turn your points into a percentage first (points earned ÷ points possible × 100), or set the highest grade to the total points of the final.
Does this work on a 4.0 or 10-point scale?
Yes. Use the same scale for every field and set the highest possible grade to match.
