How it works
Driving time = distance ÷ average speed. One break is added for each full interval of driving (not at the destination), plus any extra time you enter.
Example
400 miles at 60 mph take 6 h 40 min of driving. With a 15-minute break every 2 hours, there are 3 breaks, so the trip takes 7 h 25 min. Leaving at 7:00, you arrive at 14:25 (2:25 pm).
Tips
- Use a realistic average speed: on highways it is usually below the speed limit once you count towns and traffic.
- Fatigue is a major cause of crashes. Stop every 2 hours or 100 miles.
