Swim Pace Calculator

By the CalcMundi team · Updated October 22, 2026 · Formulas checked against standard financial math

Enter the distance you swam, the unit of your pool and your time.

Formula

Pace per 100 = time ÷ distance × 100. 100 yards = 91.44 meters.

Example

1,500 yards in 30:00 is a pace of 2:00 per 100 yards (2:11 per 100 meters). At that pace, a 1,500 m swim takes about 32:49.

Tips

  • Open-water swims are usually slower than pool swims at the same effort.
  • A wetsuit can make you faster by improving body position.

Frequently asked questions

Is a yard pool faster than a meter pool?

The distance is shorter (91.44 m per 100 yd) and there are more push-offs, so times are faster.

What is a good pace?

Many adult fitness swimmers swim 100 m in 2:00 to 2:30; competitive swimmers go well under 1:30.
